After attending Johnson and Wales University in Providence Rhode Island, Kris returned to North Carolina to work in the hospitality field. Moving with her family to Asheville in 2001, she has spent the last twenty two years getting to know Asheville by working her way through many areas of her training from hot line culinary work, baking and pastry, high volume catering, and restaurant consulting and ultimately ownership of multiple concepts, in addition to large scale event production. Kris has honed her training in customer service and networking to build a web of connections that highlight this region’s rich culinary world in events both locally based and regionally. Over the years she has bolstered her resume with trainings and certifications including Lean Six Sigma Black Belt with a focus in Human Resources.

 

In 2010, Kris chose to step out of the kitchen and move toward combining all of her passions for business and hospitality into an all inclusive event production company, Contact Asheville. Responding to the areas growing tourist market demands, Contact Asheville has reached beyond the culinary bits of Asheville and extended into other event styles such as the arts, conferences, and sports. Kris has been contracted to work locally to provide a variety of event platforms from small receptions, visiting business multi-day seminars, interior design, buildout and event consulting, culinary crawls, festivals and tournaments. Kris has worked closely with the Asheville Chamber and CVB in addition to the Center for Craft, Creativity and Design, Asheville Independent Restaurant Association, The Grove Arcade, The Southern Conference, Asheville Wine and Food Festival, Rolls-Royce Owners Club, the North Carolina Chapter of The American Planning Association, YPO organizations across the country and ownership conception of Asheville Cocktail Week. ACW was responsible for founding the United States Bartenders Guild in Asheville, which is one of the largest functioning chapters in the state. ACW has been recognized internationally as a top cocktailing event. In 2018 Kris opened the Waterbird, the flagship all day coffee to cocktails concept in the North Asheville neighborhood with several similar concepts developed for the coming years. 

Taking note of her passion to develop concepts and community, Kris has assembled a badass team of people to provide the most detail oriented consultation in the hospitality industry across the United States. With a broad spectrum of expertise her team can guide from the idea phase to execution of any restaurant project, co-working space or event of any size or variety. 

 

When Kris isn't “partying for a living” she still enjoys cooking at home for her family with goodies from their garden and working with the Western Region of North Carolina Odyssey of the Mind.
